Well while attempting to attach my touratech crash bars, I must have cross threaded and snapped the bolt on the bottom left side of the engine case. I was suprised as that I was not "cranking" hard on the bolt. I've got my Tiger loaded up and awaiting the trip back to the dealer for a repair. With only 330 miles on the bike needless to say I'm upset with my self over this.

Bummer!

Which bolt, the rubber "snubber-mounted" one?

Using a torque wrench?

Hopefully, you didn't strip it and can drill it out.

Walt

It was the left side engine case bolt....I had my torque wrench but this happend as I was slowly screwing the bolt back into the case with a regular wratchet. It tightened a bit then snapped. I dont know if the bolt had some type of micro fracture or what...as I said I was no where near cranking on it and it was only in maybe 1/3 of the way. It was the weirdest thing I ever had happen while wrenching. Its at the dealer now....they said it didnt look like it was a big deal and that the hardest part would be getting a new bolt from Triumph.

Sounds like the thread will clean up, if needed, by screwing in the new bolt. You didn't feel any binding? Weird.

Glad it's OK!

Hope to see the pics of your crash-bars!

Walt
