My mates engine management light on his tiger 955 has come on during his trip over the Pyrenees today (up to approx 2500mtrs) . He has dropped down to Barcelona were it is 36c. The light is staying on dispite several rest stops & the bike is running fine. Any ideas why the light is still on, what it might be & how to get rid of it (not black tape!).

Did the bike's engine improve as you got lower down toward Barcelona ?. If it did, then it could......be the same problem i had with my bike when i first got it.

As you are no doubt aware, the ECU relies on a number of sensors in and around the engine to do it's thing and manage the fuel injection etc. One of those sensors is the Barometric sensor which should sense altitude changes and compensate for thinner air etc as you climb.

Mine had gone kaputt!, and i could not get above 860m without the light coming on and then engine running like a stuck pig!

If the engine is running fine, let it be and get it checked when you get back or find a Triumph dealer out there and get them to put it on the computer and it will reveal what caused that light to comew on.

PS.. if it is the ECU sensor then your friend is in for a big bill, or hopefully it is in warranty

There has been no change in the engines performance what so ever so may be it was the altitude followed by the heat that has kept the light on & after a few warm up/cool down cycles the light will go off.
He's only 1 week into a 4 week trip, the bike is 10 months old, so I've mailed him details of a couple of triumph dealers in Barcelona where he could get the diagnostics done.

Thanks for your reply
