Had a problem on Sunday, whilst waiting for the customs at Eurotunnel. The bike got very hot and we were waiting a long time so I turned the engine off. A minute later, the que moved and when I tried to start up, the engine wouldn't crank over. It was "like" a flat battery but deffinately wasn't the battery at fault. It was as if something seized up and prevented the starter to turn the engine.
I got it started by bumping it. And, later on (when I turned it off again because of a 15 minute wait for the train) after it had cooled for 10~15 minutes, it cranked & started like normal.
Anyone had this and know the reason?

No, I haven't cooked it. It ran good as gold when I'd got it started. It didn't over heat, just got very hot sitting still ticking over for a long time.
I didn't think to check the fan. I cannot hear it with ear plugs in. It must have been working though, because the temp didn't go any higher than normal. i.e. half way up the scale. BUT, it was there for a long time.

Nothing like it!
I didn't have a coolant leak, neither did it over heat. It just got hot sitting there ticking over. Then the engine wouldn't turn over on the starter.
I'm thinking that the engine casings get extra hot when the temp gauge sits at the fan level for a long time. Then something inside expands and stops the engine OR starter from spinning. Don't know what. Anyone?
