I have a bad left wheel bearing and speedometer drive assy.
After wheel removal:
1. What is the procedure for removing both bearings?
2. Do I need special tools or supplies?
3. Can the seal on the left be salvaged or does it require replacement?
4. Is it likely that I would find the bearings somewhere other than the dealer? And if so do you know the part number or source? Please keep in mind that I am in the US.
Thanks for the responses. I will update this thread as the repair progresses.

1. support the centre of the wheel on some blocks of wood and use a drift from the opposite side. But don't hit it in the same place move around the wheel. Don't be too scared of giving it a heavy blow.
3. You could re-use the seal but for the price it's always worth replacing.
4. There is a good chance you can get the bearing else where because Triumph wouldn't have had them custom made. However you will need to know the original spec, I'd go with the Triumph ones unless a Triumph specialist can supply them.

i have just replaced mine and the bearings come out very easily with a drift,i use an old 1/2" drive, 24" long extention bar,if you put the bar throught the the center of the wheel, and feel for a slight edge on the other side, then hit the bar with a lump hammer, all the way round inside (hope this makes sense).
the bearing will come straight out,the oil seals just pop out with a screwdriver, but i would replace them, the bearing no.is 6303-2RSH/C3 its a standard bearing from any bearing dealer, this is the SKF no.
this is all on a 1999 tiger with wire spoke wheels, not sure if they are all the same

All good advise posted above.
When it comes to fitting the new bearing, if you need to tap the new bearing in with a drift, socket, tube etc make sure you do not strike the inner race of the bearing. It is reasonably safe to tap the outer race (outside edge), but any strike to the inner is likely to destroy the new bearing.

I removed the front wheel bearings today. You should of seen the crud that shook loose from the suspect bad one. I'm searching for a deal on the new parts as the dealer wants $27 for a bearing.

This is valid advice. The simple way to avoid damaging the new bearing is to use the old one as a drift. Strangely, it's exactly the right size.

If you do find better pricing for the bearings and seals, please let us know.
Thanks,
Walt

I ordered two of these. I figure the price was worth the risk. I'll let y'all know if they work out.
Can somebody tell me how to insert a hyperlink?

The new $4 bearings arrived today. They are in the freezer now. Gonna attempt reconstruction today. Will post again tonight.
