Hi all,

Just a quick question, if anyone can help

I want to put a louder horn on the tigga, and have seen the Strebel Nautilus compact, 139db, but it recommends a battery of 28Ah, the tigga only seems to have 12Ah.

The horn draws about 18A, with 20A fuse.

Will the battery cope, or will it fall over and die?

Any thoughts appreciated.

PS I got the tube out of the sump (after stupidly dropping it down the oil filler) by removing exhaust, oil cooler and sump. It cost about £20 for sump gasket, 3 exhaust seals, banjo bolt washers and a couple of O'rings (just in case)

PPS I can't say it was a fun job, but do-able

I’ve had one my tiger for over 2 years, never been a problem and the bikes a 2000 with the original battery.
Only problem I have is occasionally I knock horn button and frighten the living***** out of myself !!

Thanks for the info.
Can I ask where you mounted the horn?
I was thinking of left hand side in the toutatech crash bars, but this is a little exposed.

Where do you get this horn from?
I am looking to replace mine as it sounds embarrassingly quiet.
Thanks

I think I got it from NippyNormans - make sure you get the compact one as the standard is way too big

Oldbanker - did you run a separate fused circuit for the horn, or did you just use the stock horn wiring? If you did, ever blown the fuse on that circuit? I know other people have done the separate wiring job w. an automotive relay from the original horn circuit, but I'm not sure if I can be a**ed making that much of a job of it.

Also - where are you guys mounting these?

Guys, also just been lookin at the Stebel site and see their other horns only pull 5.5A still giving 133dB (as oppose to 139dB from the Nautilus one's) - any opinions on whether the extra wiring is worth it just for a few dB?

Sorry mate but it going to need a new circuit, direct from the battery with an inline fuse through a relay to the horn. The original horn supply can be used to switch the relay Only.

My horn is not the compact and is mounted on my TB crash bars, which I highly recommend.
You will end up having to pick this bike up at some point believe me.
When you don’t scratch the tank and brake foot peg, the bars have paid for themselves.
