The only regular annoyance I have found with my '06 (6,600miles), is that finding neutral is sometimes a chore. Frankly, it's often just impossible. It's easiest done when rolling downhill, coming up on my driveway. If the bike is sitting in my yard, I often have to bump it, start it, or move it around. And sometimes it just won't no matter what, until it's driven for a while.

You'd think after 6+thousand miles, this would loosen up. Any advice?

Have you tried playing about with the cable adjuster see if it makes a difference?

They all do that sir...

Well, mine does as well and I've read its not an uncommon comment.

Easy enough when the engine's running but as the Good Book says park uphill and in gear it can be a little tricky finding first with the engine off, and then finding neutral when you want to ride off.

I find using 2nd instead a litte easier.
