I just purchased a 2006 Tiger and love it, except when I'm in heavy traffic and am forced to travel at steady slow speeds at say 10-25 km/hr. The perfomance is rather "jerky" at that pace. I think the issue stems from the idle which is not steady, before and after the service. The dealer said the bike does not like to travel at slow speeds, and the idle will most likely steady itself after the motor is broken-in. He also said that if I purchased the off-road pipe, it would allow the motor to breath easier, which may help the problem as well as add 10% horsepower. Anyone out there with any thoughts on this subject? :???:

The Tiger should perform O.K at all speeds. It doesn't say in any sales brochure that the Tiger is a fantastic bike but....it's rubbish at slow speeds.
I had a similar problem on my '04 I found that the throttle cables were too tight and I was operating the throttle unknowingly. Give them plenty of slack and it may cure your problem, if not go back to the dealer andget them to put the computer on to your bike and do a standard engine management reset.

The ECM can´t handle rpm 2000-3000 in a good way. Try to keep rpm steady in that section giving some throttle when in neutral. I can´t do it on mine, it is a common problem.

Keep your chain slack enough will help. I have about 50 mm slack instead of 35-40mm as the book says.

ECM stands for Engine Control Module, it is the computer for the fuel and ignition system. There are several sensors for the system and a small fault can be a big problem for the engine.

There are several threads about this topic link to thread

This is also known as surging. I got it and the O2 sensor eliminator didn't help.

What does 'ensure latest stock tune and pipe fitted' mean? I got the Triumph Silencer and Triumph Silencer tune.

Do you mean to give up the Silencer and go back to stock?

After reading all the past quotes I was thinking the problem would be fixed by disabling the 02 sensor, but it did not work for "Jamo" I would like to talk to Jamo to find out if ever determined the fix but I'm a Newbey and have yet to make 10 postings, so unable to connect with Jamo. Can someone connect me with Jamo

Hey Super Sidecars....Thanks for the links.
Perhaps its the O2 Sensor, Perhaps a tight chain. Perhaps a tight throttle cable.?? I just want to run smooth at all speeds!

no, just make sure the tune is installed correctly and the rest of the bike set up right!

As has been said though, too tight a throttle (not enough free play) can cause this, too tight chain (it likes to be at the loose end of the scale on a Tiger) throttle bodies need balanced

If the bike is set up properly you will not have these issues. I never found the need to try to con the ECU by fitting sensor eliminators and some found doing so did not help, some it did with varying other issues like increased fuel consumption.

I always found that when my bike was set up right, it ran perfect, standard or aftermarket exhaust. Oh yes and be aware; the LATEST tune is not always the best!

Hey DJR...Thanks for the advice. I just picked up the bkie last weekend after the first tune, and it's now kicking like a horse at slow speeds. I'll take it back to the dealer soon and relay your suggestions. I may as well make sure the warranty works, before experimenting.

In any event, can someone please connect me with Jamo. My e-mail address is "marion.taggart@shaw.ca" Thanks.
