There's no oil filter info in my '06 owners' book. Typical.

'06 filter the same as '01 - '05 ?

Anyone know exchange filters for the factory one (besides Fram)?

The Bosch 3300 is an exact replacement for the Triumph filter and will fit the 2006. I use a Bosch 3323 as it is a bit longer with more capcity. It allows me to put in an even 4 quarts without going over the max line on the dipstick.

K&N is a good choice being a Champion Labs product with synthetic filter media. Wal-Mart's store brand (Super-Tech?)is also a Champion Labs unit but with paper media and I've been using them for 13 years on two Triumphs and a BMW with no complaints. And at less than $2USD, it makes a cheap bastard like me very happy.

If you want to talk cheap, how about Shell Rotella T 5W-40 (syn) for less than $4 a quart at Wal-Mart...

Just trying to get a little rise from you guys; take it easy, I don't want to start an oil war.

I've only had the Rotella T in the bike for two oil changes, but it seems to perform very well; no consumption and very smooth shifts. At the next change, I'm going to do an analysis.

I use NAPA #1358 with no ill effects.

I've used the Rotella for a couple of years in two bikes. Works fine... so what's wrong with cheap?

I too have come to believe that all the hype about "motorcycle specific" oils are a bunch of marketing *****.

Rotella T synthetic for me.

I've been using Caltex Havoline fully synthetic (10W-50) SL/CF for some time now. The bike loves it. I find the gearbox better with 10W-50 than with 5W oils. In Aus it costs only $AU45 ($US34) for 5 litres - much cheaper than other fully synthetic oils.
