Exhaust hanger rusted to oblivion

As the title says really the exhaust hanger has rusted completely off at the silencer. Mine is one of the first production bikes of the 2001 series so I expect lots of 2001-2005's to suffer from this now or soon.

There are 2 alan key bolts holding the hanger to the rear silencer and are made of stainless. The exhaust is stainless... so what pillock thought "we'll make a hanger out of mild steel" ?

Exhaust heat + Mild steel + stainless steel = high speed corrosion of the mild steel.

Anyhoo I spent an hour making and fitting a new hanger made of galvanised steel. 1 20mm hole and 2 14mm holes alter I had a hanger.
The 2 alan bolts in the silencer refused to budge so I had to force them with a pair of Stilsons. 1 came out but the other's rivnut broke away inside the silencer so I had a spinning nut. I welded the rivnut shell to the silencer and tried to undo it again, but the nut broke away deep inside the silencer this time. This left the nut spinning away. So I welded the damn thing to the silencer permanently

I now have a bespoke galvanised exhaust hanger with extra holes for bungee attachment.
