1050 Tiger Catalytic Converter?
I posted this same question in the Chat Room, probably by mistake and I'm sorry for that, but here it is again --
I was at a Beemer Rally this past weekend and there was an '07 (Blue) 1050 Tiger there. The owner (from GA) had 60K miles on it. He had mounted a Yoshimura (?) muffler in a lowered, horizontal position using two 90 degree elbows (connected to the main exhaust pipe under the frame) and a long support strap from the upper rear frame. The new muffler position allowed him to use a full size rear case on the right hand side of the bike. Therefore, it was a good deal.
In the past I've seen a BMW 1150 GS where the owner simply ran a straight pipe (in a low position) from the catalytic converter (which is under the bike) so he could use a full size Jesse box on the left hand side. The converter actually provided very good sound muffling and the bike was not at all loud.
I asked the Tiger owner if he had tryed that approach and he said he didn't know if the 1050 Tiger had a catalytic converter(s) or not.
So my question, does the US spec 1050 Tiger have a catalytic converter(s) and, if so, where is it/they located?
Thanks and ride safe.
