Kinda depends where you are. In a traffic jam in Phoenix in the summer it never goes off! In Donegal where I just came back from it never goes on, even in the summer.

fan

better too much fan
than not enough fan
i put a on off on(T-stat) switch
on my '96 tiger so i could flip it on to turn the fan on when i know that i will be going slow, so it doesnt have to get really hot before the fan comes on.
otherwise i leave it in the ono to T-stat position.
or turn it off if i dont want thefan to run after the key is off
its a simple thing to do

usually comes on at 6 or 7 bars on the temp guage. As long as the bike never goes about 8 you should be fine. If it does get the cooling system checked at your dealers. Usually doesn't get higher than 5 or 6 in flowing traffic/open road. Stop/start and yes, it was up to 7 quite often.

This is basically how my 08 was last summer, and the Speed Triple the summer before.

the more the merrier

the more fan the merrier your engine will be. The only downside is the potential to drawing too much electric and have a melted fuseblock. Many cycle mechanics and enthusiasts will tell you that it can quickly overdraw the output of the regulator and rectifier.

I discovered this firsthand this summer. I'm in Houston and the fan runs a lot and I got a melted fuse just last month. I cut the stock wiring and put in high quality 10 gauge fused links straight to battery from the r/r.

I don't know that it was the fan's consistently running in traffic and heat but it certainly didn't help the situation.

What you are describing is very much normal for the '07 Tiger. My fan comes on after the 7th bar has been on about 30 seconds.

When I am parking Tiger, I always look at the temp before I shut off the bike--if it is at 7 bars, I wait a couple of minutes for the fan to cool it down to 6 bars before I shut off the engine. The Tiger 1050 fan works ONLY when the ignition switch is ON.

An '07 should have had the coolant changed and flushed a couple of times by now. Inspect your coolant overflow tank for coolant color and deposits. If your coolant is not of a good color and clear enough to see through easily, I would change and flush the system.
