Throttle Position Sensor

Can anyone with a Triumph manual tell me what the throttle position sensor should read at tickover?

An idiot guess says zero, but mine reads 11.4%......

Thanks in advance

Just had mine fixed a month ago, was set at 15%, Edinburgh triumph set to zero and this sorted out idle issue at start up, surge at 2.5k and improved fuel consumption by at least 10mpg.

Had been previously checked by the triumph garage in Renfrew who said it was okay, mind you, thats the same lot who ordered me one front wheel bearing.......they mustve thought i had a spare.

Thanks for that.

Makes sense, that's why I guessed zero. If you start at 11% the ECM thinks the engine is on load when it isn't and hoofs fuel in there. That then happens all the way through the revs and explains why it only really feels right on full chat.

As far as dealers go, the jury's out on mine at the moment. They took it in for a remap, screwed it up until it wouldn't go (turned out to be a flat battery but they counldn't even diagnose that) and the rev counter read 4k with the engine off, then charged me £90 for the privlidge and asked me to take it away "to avoid running up a bigger bill" I took it away because I didn't want them tinkering any more.

Gonna buy a Tuneboy I think.

last straw with Renfrew dealer, they lied to me about a throttle cable "...coming in today/tomorrow/Monday" when I found out they were on back order from triumph and unavailable. Edinburgh told me this within 10 seconds of phoning, phoned round myself and got one from Onyertriumph.

I consider myself a pretty patient guy, but after too many last chances i now ride 150miles round trip to someone who does what they say, when they say.

Rant over.
