Think I stripped the coil pack mounts... grrr.

I don't know if this is a magnesium alloy thing, or if it's just the way it's made, but I can't seem to tighten at least 3 of the bolts that hold in the coil packs snugly.

They came out clean, threads were clean, and even now, looking in, the threads are there, complete, and clean!

What gives?!?! I did end up just throwing some high-heat thread-locker on them and snugging them to the snuggest point I could find... but I'm a tad worried that they'll come flying out and I'll lose a pack... granted the airbox kinda holds things in place... but still... peace of mind is nice.

The two bolts on my middle coil also stripped -- the dealer did it when they last worked on my Tiger. They were repaired properly with heli-coils and are now better than new. My suggestion is that you get them heli-coiled. Not complicated and an easily accessible area. Any reputable garage will do it. The heads are VERY soft. Cheers.

Helicoils (or equivalent) are quite easy to do yourself, especially on a non-critical application. If you need more than a couple it's probably cost effective, plus you have the kit for future use.

Available here in the UK and I'm sure lots of places over there.
