Fuel filter and gasket

2006 Tiger - Dealer has fuel filter in stock but no gasket.......is it ok to resuse the gasket?

Also, I see on here that some use the BMW fuel filter...what do we have as a cross reference on these fuel filters and what is others experience?

the pump plate gasket is a nice thick rubber sheet, I have had mine apart half a dozen times with no ill effects.

be careful and you can reuse the gasket lots of times

Gasket can be reused many times. I bouth a $2.50 Purolator fuel filter at Pep Boys and it works a treat.

I think the installation of a plastic fuel filter on a fuel injected bike is a very misguided step. Those plastic inline filters were designed for use in carbureted systems of years ago that operated at less than 12 psi pump pressure. Just about any motorcycle of car FI system is operating in the 35-50 psi range. The plastic filter submerged in fuels is likely to give in short order. Also be aware that there is a different spec for fuel line in FI systems to withstand the higher pressure and being submerged in fuel. Using regular fuel hose is a no no here too.

As i own both a 955 Tiger and a BMW 1100s i can assure you they use the same fuel filter, just comes a lot cheaper at the BM dealer!!,knowing what BM can be like even i find it strange.
