Pages and pages of modifications. Did I miss it, or has no one fitted 4 or 6 piston brake calipers to their Tiger?

Not as far as i know ??, Got to say that the front brakes on my 955i are pretty darned good. But i pay plenty of attention to them with regular cleaning/bleeding, and using HH pads. The Nissin calipers seem up to the job to me ?

But i am always interested to hear of anyones experiences with anything different?

I was thinking something like the 4 pot Nissins on the T5. The Tiger seems to have about 80 mm center-to-center on the caliper bracket bolts whereas the T5 has something else. Looked at Yamaha's (100mm), Kawasakis (90mm), Hondas (63mm) and others. I wasn't all that concerned about the brakes since I don't yet have a Tiger, but now it's bugging me and I'm on a quest to find big calipers. Just want to be ready because the big cat is coming. Cleared out a space in the garage already.

Tyrebyter,

I considered the same thing, but that was before I sorted the fork springs and replaced the oe brake pads with HH sintered.

The pads sure have improved the braking and the springs give tremendous feedback.

Jack Lilley shows a Berringer kit with 4 pot calipers, rotors and brackets. Holy moly! It's something like $1800US given the currnt exchange rate. I don't think I ever talked myself out of something so fast. Maybe I could just drag my feet for a little extra stopping power.
If I come up with a way to use clampers from one of the thousands of salvaged GSXRCBRZXRYZF 600s, I'll post it. The one good thing about kids on 100+ HP sport bikes is that there's always plenty of parts on Ebay.

hello everybody. I've bought my first tiger last year for French touring. The mods which i have installed are:
Touring Screen from Sportouring.com-its 3inches wider on the sides and 4 inches higher and has fantastically better wind protection than the original.
Ring fog lights from halfords.
Triumph panniers
Givi 52litre top box and rack
one of those LED battery testers from Nippy Normans

Just two questions: Is the triumph gel seat really worth it as I us a nice white fluffy sheepskin? and
What is the loudest exhaust for the tiger (for off road purposes of course)? :???:

Firstly, welcome along, most welcome here.

Your questions 1) Absolutely...a revelation in comfort levels best mod Triumph have created for the bike !
2) The Triumph aftermarket can is pretty good, the sound is awesome but blue flame make one, Remus too. the good thing about the Triumph one is that it looks absolutely bog standard, so at time it invisible to the cops

cheers

Different handlebars on a 2005 Tiger.
Last weekend I fitted a lower set of bhandlebars on the bike. The originals had me too upright. The bars are an aftermarket in the Euro-style (roughly 2" rise, angled back and down slightly), same width as the stockers. They effectively lower and move my hands slightly forward.
This was not a straight bolt on. I drilled the new bars to accept the locating pins inside the switchgear, and welded up threaded plugs to keep the bar-ends. On the throttle side, I cut back the end of the bar to match the Triumph unit, and made the plug on this side slightly longer to compensate. I think Triumph does this to keep the RHS bar-end weight from tightening against the throttle. (I spent a lot of time bending welding rod to make sure that the controls cleared both the fairing and tank at full lock.before I started. This sounds more complicated than the actual work.) The brake line fitting from the master cylinder had to be loosened to swing the line up slightly (then retightened).
I'm 6'-2 and the new bars are more comfortable for me, plus the wind noise from the taller (Triumph accessory) windshield dropped slightly. Yesterday I had the 600 mile service done. This is really a grrrreat bike!
 [If it was easy, everyone would do it)]
