And I probably should have added that it rained A LOT on the ride and at the end the bike was pretty much caked in mud. However, the hugger did its job. There wasn't much muck in the rear suspension area.

Hi Bigstripey

Thanks for that I'll get some photos together and contact you.

On the NWS question raised by Tim, I agree with Paulie. With normal tyres I don't think you would ever get a big enough stone stuck in the tread to cause a problem, it might be a different matter if you had full knobbly jobs on. I've been on some full rocky tracks and also on gravel quarry tracks and its never been a problem. I think the benefit out ways the risk.

The other accessories I forgot to mention as a must are heated grips, up in Scotland I have the grips switched on most of the time (wimp, but what the hell) and a centre stand, try resting your bike on the side stand with bike fully loaded for a trip, there is only one direction it is likely to go.

See Ya

I am looking for the Akropovic for the Tiger '05. Has anyone ever had one? and where did you find it? Please let me know, I am actually looking for a full exhaust system, headers and can. If anyone has any good ideas that would be helpful also.

What's on everybody's list of favorite extras for their Tigers?

Merry Christmas and Happy Riding New Year
:-g to all . . .

I recognize that red tiger with the side hack; had the pleasure of eating your dust for a while on the Blackdog Dual Sport ride a couple of weeks ago at Mt Hood Oregon.

Your tough to pass - course I was only on a DRZ 400 :-D maybe I'll bring my Tiger next year

The optionals so far....
1) Corbin saddle - supreme comfort and quality. Wide perch for proper support, no more inner thigh burn. However, the wide seat will require long legs to reach the ground. I'm 6'4", and both legs down at the same time require tippy toes....

2) Triumph race can and engine mapping #19.- more oomph, more sound, smoother engine.

3) Cee Bailey's Triumph #2 screen (6w x 8.5h)- very good protection, good looks and fit, minimal interference (see thread)

4) Scottoiler - touring kit mounted behind plate. Chain lube worries a thing of the past. Great stuff!

5)Touratech engine bars - on order
6) K&N filter - on order
7)In the future.....

mirror extenders
rear Hugger -painted to match the bike!
front mudguard
Mettisse grilles for oil cooler and radiator

Later....

Yeah, sorry about that! I almost took out a couple of KTMs up on Gumjuwac pass that weekend. They came up close looking for a way 'round. I pulled to the inside of a right hand corner to let them by, but the sidecar wheel hit a big rock in the corner. It was already light from tightening my line in a right hand turn and the hack popped off the ground and tried to go over the bike. I went a little wide and pinched them off before I could bring it down and go left, letting them by on the right. No harm, no foul but it was nip and tuck for a bit...
The wheel fell off the sidecar a couple weeks ago, doing a power slide up in the hills. Sheared the axle off! Ural IMWA is loaning me the Gear Up Patrol they had at the Blackdog(camo two wheel drive mil spec Ural) so I can do the Ratdog in September- ya gonna be there?

not a problem; it was a blast watching you guys handle those things. it tempts me (only a little tho) to consider putting one on mine. Still havn't decided on the Ratdog; that same weekend is the Easton Dualsport; which is only an hour from home. So I could ride my DRZ on single track an hour from home; or drive the Tiger down (about 3 1/2 hrs) and ride the C course on the Ratdog; tough choices. I also want to do the Cycoactive GPS ride which is the following weekend; I want to do all of them but I reall can't. Lot's of stuff going on in September.

Are you taking your hack to the Ratdog?

I have a new favorite accessory. Its the Powercommander O2 sensor bypass.
I installed the sensor bypass 2 weeks ago and am totally happy. Idle and full power are unchanged. The power curve is much smoother and you really notice the difference when chugging along at about 80KPH. At this speed you are in the range where the ECU used to try an adjust the fuel mixture and the bike ran rough and surged. It is now very smooth. Most excellent!!
A new bike for $30!!

I second Timtigr. I've had the bypass for a couple of weeks and it makes a huge difference. The low end isn't totally smooth yet, but I'd say it's 90% better.
