Well got the Vario last week and went out for a short breakfast run with the wife this morning. Had planned a longer run this a.m. but my buddy had to repair the rear brakes on his Trophy so that got nixed.

Have screen at highest setting. Throws wind now to top of helmet just above the visor (Am almost 6' 2" so that's pretty good). Can turn my head now without it snapping. Like others have noted, no change in noise level, may be a bit higher, but I always wear ear plugs. Only ran it up to about 65, if I hit 80 SWMBO would have not been happy (since it's a 55 zone). Only buffeting was result of a southwest wind hitting me coming across a bridge. Real test will be when I do a day trip with the RAT group.

At least it seems better, to me, than the stock screen. Think I will keep the Cee Bailey +8 to use during cooler weather.

Pete,
I'm with HappyMan on this. You and I have the same bike and I love the Vario. I have the adjustment only one notch up from the lowest setting and I'm in heaven. I'm 6'2" (with boots) and a long torso, so I'm not sure if that is the difference. I get absolutely no head shaking as before with four other screen attempts. Sorry to hear you haven't had success in eliminating the buffeting.

PS I had it to 124 the other day with no problem. It (the screen) shook a tad, but that's to be expected. Still no buffeting even at that speed.

MRA Vario - so far so good....
It's unfortunate that the experience with the same screen can vary so much between riders,
but there's no way around it.

I'm 6'4" and use a Corbin saddle, so I'm sitting high to start with. I recently removed a Cee Bailey's #2 screen (8.5 in +) along with my bar risers, and installed the Vario. I have the spoiler all the way up. I have found that while there is more "resistance" on my shoulders, I have a steady stream of clean air at the helmet. Of course I don't expect "still air" around the head, but the clean air is a pleasant compromise. Removing the risers to lower my helmet position a bit probably has helped as well (long arms help too!)

I doubt we'll be able to turn the Tiger into a long distance tourer with the peaceful cockpit of a Goldwing without it looking ridiculous. For such a versatile and unique bike, I'm lucky to have found a solution to the battering. Also, these screens seem overpriced for a piece of plastic, so I'm very hesitant to test them out one after the other!!!!

Got to agree - it's so strange how buffeting affects different people in different ways. I assume most Tiger riders are tall, as it's a tall bike.

I've tried 4 screens, and it's so bad I'm getting off the bike after a long ride and it feels like I've gone 10 rounds with Tyson My head just buzzes for a couple of hours after a long ride.

Personally, I think I'm onto a winner with the Tiger Tall Screen mated to the Vario hinge and spoiler.

One of the best solutions is to realize that this bike is not going to give you the coverage of a touring bike and put on the Sport Screen. The Vario works great for me but on summer days I'll switch to the Sport Screen and I get very smooth and clean air. The biggest reason for buffeting is that a shield is trying to push air up and over which causes the shaking. If the shields you have been trying don't work get rid of the shield all together and you'll find it quite smooth. You can even take a stocker and cut it down rather than pay the awful high price of the Sport Screen......the highest priced piece of plastic around.

Actually gave the vario a run this past sunday. Was pleased with the results. For me there was very little buffeting compared to stock, and no neck pain. No improvement in noise but I wear earplugs so no big deal.

Helmets Helmets Helmets
That's what I think the answer is. Too much focus on all of the screens. Quite satisfied with my MRA vario and Shoei RF 1000 helmet. Had the windscreen first, and it was OK, added the helmet and things got better.

Next is a Corbin Canyon saddle and from what I've read it will make me sit a little higher which may or may not be better.

Time will tell...

I think there's something to this. I tested a Schuberth Concept C2 helmet on the bike yesterday at a brisk pace and the reduction in buffeting was remarkable. FYI I had the wing all the way down with the leading edge kicked out one notch. It was a very smooth ton.
