Hi all - rookie Tiger-05 owner as well as Rat.Net member posting for advice:

My Lo Beam head light is way too low and needs to be adjusted. Referred to my owner's manual and the info I got to adjust the alignment was: "Remove Cockpit". Can anyone give me a clue on what and how to dismantle the Tiger's head?

Yes, this foxed me when I bought my '03 Tiger recently. By cockpit, read fairing. You'll need to remove the screen first to get at the two screws underneath. I'm about to do mine to a) adjust the headlights (too high) and b) remove the tank to fit a Scottoiler.

To remove the Tiger fairing:

Remove the 4 screws on your windscreen. This will expose two screws underneath that hold the upper fairing on.

Remove the turn signals, one screw inside by the forks and the two visible ones outside. Just pull the wire connectors, they pull apart without pushing any tabs etc...

Remove the two screws behind the windscreen, and two at the lower back of the fairing. Pull forward to pull the headlight gaskets off the lenses.

To adjust the lights: The vertical adjustment screws are the two at the top between the lights. Turn clockwise (as viewed from the back) to lower the beam, CCW to raise. You can decide what's right for you, but the spec is a 4" drop at 25' to the top of the beam.

Be careful putting the fairing back on, it is really easy to break the plastic elbow on the coolant overflow tank, make sure the hose is routed correctly before pushing the fairing back on.

Actually to adjust the height of the aim you don't need to remove anything. There's a small thumb wheel just reachable by squeezing your hand up under the front of the fairing. It's fiddly but can just be done with finger tips.

The thumbwheels are for left and right adjustment. The up and down are unfortunately hex and need a socket.

I read this in the manual.

After trying it it is backwards! The top screw adjust left to right and the bottom thumwheel adjusts height.

At least on my tiger. I can now see much better at night.

Digger rules, thanks for the step-by-step on this. I'm definitely special-ed when it comes to anything mechanical, but I used your directions to replace my bulbs with brighter ones (same voltage/watts). Much appreciated

I significantly improved my headlights by replacing bulbs with Philips Blue Vision.

Improves lighting, but biggest gain is that with the blue hue you are far more visible to oncoming traffic.
