Dual Purpose Tire Size Conversion

Looking over the available dual purpose tires (Avon, Michelin, Pirelli), the dual purpose do not come in the same sizes as my stock '07 Tiger tires. Not surprisingly, as they all tend to be taller and skinnier.

Have one of you already done the conversion from the 180R55-17 rear and the 12R70-17 front?

Additionally, I suspect I will need to modify or remove my front fender and rear cover.

Unless you're going to have a specialist make you some custom 19/17 wheels, it looks like you are stuck with standard sportbike 17" tire sizes. The closest tire to a dualsport tread pattern for those is the Dunlop D616 or the Pirelli Scorpion Sync. That's what the guys use who ride the Buell Ulysses. They seem to like them for dirt road use.

Actually, that is a good idea (although I suspect that I could just use an earlier Tiger wheel combo). Getting a set of BMW style external lacers would be just the ticket.

Thanks for the idea.
