Scottoiler/alarm

I don't know if this has been on here before so please bear with me.

1) Has anyone tried to mount a touring pack scottoiler anywhere else apart from the standard behind the number plate. Its an MOT thing as the rear light dosn't cover the plate at present.

2) I have got a data tool system 3 fitted to my bike. Does anyone know if the 15 second bleep that occurs when it is in service mode can be silenced. As i fear for my sanity.

Any help on either of the above would be greatly appreciated

Hi Max, I donīt know who or where but someone put some square metal tubing behind the tail light and mounted it with longer screws to get the lamp in the right position, as for the alarm there should be a key to access itīs higher functions ask the fitter

If you go on the Datatool site you can download the manual there may be instructions in there. I'd be interested in a fix for the number plate touring tank. On my 885i I bodged some brackets out of metal square section coffee table legs which pushed the light out one inch.I forgot to do it on my 955 until after I dropped it off for its MOT. It still passed but I'm sure sooner or later an eagle eyed officer will collar me.

as for the brackets i have seen them and i thought they looked a bit untidy i was looking for a tidier option or i might just go back to the metering valve Thanks

Datatool

Regarding the datatool alarm - remember the manual you get with the alarm or download from the Datatool site is not the full thing that the dealers / installers get. Datatool are particular about not handing this out to customers/end users, although everything in it is the sort of thing anyone with a bit of tech knowhow, a spare half hour and a cup of tea can handle. I guess it has something to do with not making it available to the b****ds who nick bikes.... Anyway, if you have a chat to the mechanics next time you drop by your dealer you might just find the sort of info you're looking for.....

That would be ME

50x50x3 Al box section cut 3 pieces 40mm long

drill holes to suit bolts

use original bolts and a fresh set to bolt either side

longest part of the job is removing the tail cover to get access

AFAIK you can't silence the alarm "conventionally". However, if you take the top off (you need "security" bits which are a joke as they're available from Screwfix for a couple of quid) you'll see that the siren is connected to the main board by a plug in connector - and the rest will be obvious.

Thanks Rob you wouldn't know if you can get hold of any 50mm blanks for the ends. I have 25 but no 50s cheers
