we had some in our stores here at work so I managed to find some off cuts in the waste bin
all you are trying to do is space the light out a bit.
as you can see 50mm is a little bit on the big side but we dont carry 40mm box
you could use almost anthing to space the light but the light is mounted on rubber spools so long bolts and washers will add vibration that the bulbs may find rough, but you could make long nuts to do the job.

if you need to have a solid look then turn the spacer 90degrees and work from the top, that way less weight
also if i was doing the job again I would stagger the holes to raise the light a few mm just to give more clearance,
