Corbin vs Gel

Well after my first longish ride on my 06 tiger I am thinking about a new seat.
What is the word on cobin vs triumph gel seat, or any others that may be out there.

I am 6'4" and about 240lb I would like to keep the seat set on the highest position.

Thanks for any input.

I am about 1/2 " taller and a mere 275 lbs. I put the factory gel seat on about a week ago.So far it seems to be pretty comfortable but no long trips yet. Don't have any basis for an opinion on the Corbin.

i have the gel also. i had a corbin on my bonneville and it was very stiff. what i have read is that you loose the ability the adjust the height of the seat with the corbin, it is on the highest setting always. for me i need the lower setting and for that reason the corbin is out for me.

I've recently installed a Triumph gel seat. No really long trips yet but it's a definite improvement over stock.

I've had a Corbin seat on BMWs and Yamahas before and hated them. Corbins are extremely hard and never seem to soften up and have bad fit and finish, unless you do a ride-in at their California factory.

For real comfort the best choice is a Russell Day Long. They're ugly but work the best. Unfortunately, they're booked up through October. That's how popular Russells are.

I bought a used but pristine 06 with a Corbin on it. The owner loved the Corbin and had a Corbin on all of his bikes (4). I'm 5'9 with a 29" inseam. The Corbin was comfortable but it made stopping a bit troubling. I went with the gel seat. (bought from a member of this site) and the forks have been lowered 20MM. The bike is now perfect for me. I have a Corbin on my Sprint and I love it! Though, it's a bit wide for commuting for me.

Other Motorcycle: there are others?
Extra Motorcycle: do I need one?
I have the Triumph Gel seat on my Tiger. Wonderful seat. I have done a number of 500 mile days since installing. Comfort and room to move around.

I also replaced the stock seat on my Speed Triple with the Corbin.

For anything more than a 30 min. ride...give me the Gel!!

Corbin fit and finish is nice, but that seat is hard...period.

My father and I both did the same things. I have an 01 and he has an 04. We started with the stock seat. Terrible. Torture rack. (oh, he is your standard 6' tall 175# guy and I am a 6' tall Sasquatch (read: Fatass)). We then both bought Gel seats. It is an improvement, but not a whole bunch. Then we put Alaska Leather sheep skins on them. Another improvement. More of an improvement for dad. I finally, in the middle of a trip, stopped in Hollister, CA and begged for a Corbin. Heaven under my butt. Made all the difference in the world. Yes, it is hard, but oh so comfy during the long days.

After 2 years of me trying to convince dad, he finally did the same. The Tiger Ride In last July in Kamiah, Idaho was his first ride on it and he wished he had done it years ago. Said his butt was no longer a concern at all.

I put Corbin seats on all my bikes. I have one on my Tiger and love it. Best for taller riders on the Tiger - I'm 6'2"...

Well my 2 cents, for what it's worth............ I don't think there is any gel in the gel seats?????????????? I think it's just a ruse for the factory to sell after market seats. My 06 Tiger has the standard seat and I thought the factory gel seat would be better. NO, NO, NO, only difference is the cover. so after 500 miles I sold it. HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY LOOKED TO SEE IF THERE IS A GEL PANEL IN THERE? Cause I can't find it.
Roy.
