I know this is asking for trouble but I have never had a puncture on my Tiger. If I do...
Do I use an instant tyre repair aerosol can?
Do they work?
Do I then have to get a proper repair done as soon as possible?
Is the tyre usable again, or is it like a car tyre I used it with once when the repairer said he couldn't clean it up and I would have to buy a new one?

Thanks

I just dealt with this last week. Get yourself a plug kit for a tubeless tire. It will come with strip plugs and a tool used to drive them into the offending hole. I rode about 125 km's @ 140 km/hr to get into town to have the tire replaced. I think the speed rating goes to hell on a tire once you puncture it but in reality it held up well. As far a refilling your tire with air once you've plugged it, look into the compressed cartriges or get yourself a bicycle pump (that's what I use, lots of effort!) I just replaced the tire, I really don't want to have to worry about a repair failing.

I have the plug repair under seat as well, when i did get puncture i was home, took in to repair shop and thats all they used. it was fine for about 12 mnths till the tyre finally wore down. I have since used it on care with no problems either. Tyre has to be tubeless

If it's a tubeless, do as ChadM says and get the plug kit.

I've used them many times, and used to worry about one failing until I forgot about the last one. I used to get them changed for a mushroom plug (fitted by dealer).

Now I don't worry at all, I commute a lot and use breakdown lanes a bit, which is where the flats come from (about 1 every 6 months) the Tiger currently has two in the rear tyre. And has done many thousands of kms on the repairs. My old Speed Triple had at one stage 4 in total in the rear tyre and never lost any appreciable amounts of pressure.

Make sure you follow the instuctions carefully, and use the little compressed cylinders to get you to a servo to fill the air to the correct pressure.

Caveat, never use plugs for holes bigger than a nail, or a large screw size, because the steel belting may be damaged.

i have had 2 puntures on my tiger and i have tubed tyres on spoked rims, both times i have used the foam in a can method and it works great ,you need a big can,and it will take you about 30 miles but because you have to leave the nail in the tyre to block the hole (i took it out the first time, and the foam just went everywhere).

the inner tube gets ripped, and the air gets out everywhere,so i am trying tyre slyme in the back tyre now, thats the green stuff for tubed tyres that is supposed to fix punctures straight away.

i wont put it in the front tyre as some of my friends have had handling problems with it as it runs to the bottom of your wheel when the bike is stood,so when you set off you get a wobble, and it increases at speed,as the stuff gets thrown around the inside of the tube.

i hope i dont have to find out if it works, but we are in scotland next week and i dont want to be 200 miles from nowhere with a punture. :???:
