All -- I've heard many complain about the 1050 Tiger mirrors, and not without reason, I think -- standard beefs, "all I can see is my shoulders/elbows, name the body part."

the aftermarket has, of course, jumped into the fray and offered a variety of extenders and relocators that basically move the mirror heads outboard - they all look exactly like what they are, add-ons (not that this is necessarily a bad thing)

other have sourced S3 mirror stalks, which are somewhat longer than the 1050 Tiger's --

not wishing to wait for a set of S3 stalks to come up on eBay, I spent a rainy afternoon making up a set of stalks -- 1/2 steel round stock, a vise and length of pipe for a bending jig, and the appropriate die to thread the outboard end, and zippo-bang -- mirror stalks that are an inch longer

once painted (long history has taught me not the "finish" a part til I install and use it for a while), it'll look factory original, be totally reversable, and will cure the mirror blues

pretty simple, really, and far less cost than any of the commercially available fixes

I had the similar problem with my '06, but I learned from my Speed Triple that you can just take off the stalks, put them (carefully) in a vice and apply pressure with a pipe to bend them to a suitable angle to see past your elbows.

Of course, it means they're lower to the bars, but I like that so it works for me...

I still don't understand why owners disgruntled with the OE mirrors go to such lengths when you can buy a set of good-looking aftermarket mirrors to do the same job...usuallly cheaper than the extenders!

The OE mirrors can then be kept/sold/displayed on the shelf whatever.

I used mirrors from an MZ and they look and work brilliantly. I think they were about £15 each.

jonny -- perhaps it's the desire to set one's self apart from all the other individualists? (grin)

in my case, it cost about a quarter of what you paid, and I dug doin the work (bigger grin) -- also, there's the lack of data about what fits what, and availability (MZ parts are thin on the ground on this side of the big water)

there are, or course, many many ways to get what ya want -- ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances, as grandpa used to say

I guess that's why I used to paint the lettering white on the tyres of my GPz!
