I am have just acquired at Triumph Tiger and I want some luggage. The price of the Triumph hard cases is silly and I thought of using some throw-over soft luggage.

However the exhaust is a big problem.

I need some pannier type rails or something to distance the luggage off the exhaust.

Has anyone come up with a solution or made something that works.

Yes, i have.

Like you i thought that the Triumph boxes were too expensive as my bike did not come with them fitted as standard.

I opted for the Givi/Kappa solution instead. If you check out the Tiger forum album, in the luggage sub album you will see this and a few other solutions.

Hope this helps ?

Hi Big Stripey, I have opted for the same Givi/Kappa system, have you been away with them yet, I noticed that they are only rated up to 70mph, have you been faster with them and how was the handling?

I am off to Spain in 3 weeks and wouldn't mind a bit of an insight to their reliability/performance.

Oh yes, i have been lots more than 70 mph  and they are fine up to about 100 mph. After that you do get a slow weave that develops. Last year i had driving wind and rain even snow (in June!) and they stayed dry and were stable and worked really well.

Prior to fitting them, i used a top box and an expanding tailpack. but now i have 135 litres of room for plenty of clothes, tools etc.

Half the price of Triumph ones but every bit as good in my opinion ?

Hi Ron

If I'm reading your post right what you need it soft bag racks, they keep the bags off the exhaust. Not sure who makes them, but I have a set kicking about from before I put the Givi racks on a couple of years back, used to work a treat with my Oxford bags. As part of the 1050 upgrade I'll be ebaying off a lot of stuff in a couple of weeks, the soft racks will go as well. PM me if you're interested....

Would really be interested in the pannier racks - save the hassle of ebay fees and time plus interested in whatever you have.

I have so far fitted a rear hugger and a bigger scren with an additional wind deflector. I have some crash bobbins would prefer some crash bars.

Thought about a sports exhaust but the jury is still out on that one.

Cheers

Ron

Hi Ron

I've just had a tidyup of various racks etc, and found my soft pannier racks. I'll send you a PM with my email address, drop me a line and I'll send you some photographs, if you're still interested we'll take it from there.

Cheers
Dag

Not selling my boxes, however I have kept back my Givi PL725 pannier racks that I will be selling. These *do* fit all the 885 EFI models, don't believe Givi as they will tell you porkies to cover their backs... Very sturdy racks, on top of carrying luggage they are good protection as well.
