Just completed another 2,000 mile week long holiday on the bike, and once again the Gel seat saved the day. For shortish runs, say under 100 miles i don't think there is much between them. But on runs over that, the Gel definately keeps the vibes down. It is not necessarily any more comfy, but that vibration associated with 300 miles at a steady 85 mph it definately smooths things out.

My big problem is and always will be the footrest position . This is definately my next project. My knees and shins really hurt this time.

was a real lucky git this winter when i managed to pick up a new cordin with green trim for my 02 off E-BAY, paid 125 quid for it and the difference is unberleavable and thats after a gel seat. Must admit that being only 5ft 10 the ground is a long way off now but i will live with that after the comfort, room and support it gives. :-D

This tracks well with my own experience. I generally leave the stock seat on when I anticipate an extended period of short trips, but I definitely take the gels out of their bag when I may go farther.

Now, I don't change back to the stock seats because of any dissatisfaction with the gels. I mainly do it to save wear on them; but also, in part, because my shorter trips tend to be ones where the seat will be exposed to the sun, so I don't have to worry about heat retention.

This is different from the Speed Triple, where I was not as pleased with the gel seat at first...but since it has been broken in, I've never gone back to the original.

Just goes to show that the different results people report are not only due to our personal anatomies, but may also relate to riding position and the geometry of the type of bike.
