Center stand
Hi all I am inquiring about the dimensions of a center stand to fit my 1999 Tiger 885I. My son is a welder and it should be no problem to fab one up for dear old dad if I can get the measurments of a stand and brackets. Having just lost my job here to a fire I am trying to save a few bucks if possible.
Thanks

Triumph UK has them on sale for 90% off! Yes, 90%! They have them for less than 20 pounds (I don't have the symbol on my keyboard) through dealers in the UK. Even with shipping they would be a smoking deal.

Bill, the disclaimer at bottom reads - at participating dealers. Will have to phone around to see if its available, and if its for the 885, if so I`ll bag one too

Center stand big deal to dimension
The stock stand is hard to dimension for a weldment. I have my stand on my desk. It's a 12 piece weldment of tube and plate steel with formed and machined parts.
Your son would much more be willing to weld a rear stand that stays home in the garage like the one I use.
If you want I could tell you how to make one.
Ps I love my vists to BC.

If you are set on making your own, heres an easy way to measure:
Tools:
Tape measure
2x4 (6" piece)
1 reliable friend (trustworthy enough to not drop your bike)
Drive the rear wheel onto the 2" tall part of the 2x4, and set the bike on its kickstand.
Help your friend prop the bike up straight, then have him/her lift the tail of the bike just enough to remove the compression of the rear spring. Take the measurement from the ground to your mounting point.
-This works pretty well for the Tiger 1050, given the mount on the frame being so easy to access. I have all my materials, I just need to find the time to put mine together!

Bugger! They didn't happen to mention if there were any steamer ones left, I'd call around myself but I am overseas at the moment.
Had a friend who used to hang his bike back end from a rafter in the garage, said he didn't want a centre stand spoiling the looks and adding weight to his Triton, paddock stands were things of myth in those days and crusty old bugger probably didn't have any friends he trusted enough

Your dealer has, er, "misinformed" you. I collected the item below this lunch time, having ordered it last week. Total cost of £13-74.

I tried two dealers, my local one plus one in Wales and was told the same by both
Part # for 885i is A9578006 @ £13.74
Part # for 955 is A 9578007 @ £68.70
So, which have you got?? as the 955 doesnt fit the 885 so im told.
Pete
