lowering link for '99 Tiger 885i

Hey guys,
I've searched around here and can't find any info on where to locate a rear lowering link for a 1999 Tiger 885i. The dealer has one for somewhere on the north side of $150. There's gotta be a cheaper on than that, right? Please let me know if you know of any. Thanks.

the rear shock is directly mounted to a pivot on the swingarm.... there isn't a "doggie bone" type link that would work... Shorter shock maybe.

I found one online last year, but for the life of me I can't remember where. It wasn't a dog-bone shape one. It was odd(ly shaped) … but what on these 885's isn't?

My understanding is as Cantilever's: the shock mounts directly onto the swinging-arm, there's no linkage involved at all, so no scope for lowering that way. You *might* try turning the chain tension eccentric through 180 degrees. That will lower the back about 40mm. You'll have to space the chainguard mount out though. It works for me.

If there was a dog bone(which there isn't) you would'nt have the hassle of the chain tension that you do with the Tiger,depending on 1 up or two up,but you've only got to look at the bottom of the shock were it bolts direct to the swing arm to realise that!!,i was just hopeing to let you down a little easier than Cantilever

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. Winger, are you saying the chain tension is supposed to be adjusted based on number or riders? Is that a matter of shifting the back wheel fore and aft? That sounds a little irritating.

Set the chain tension as you see fit,sit on it,either lean down and feel the chain tension,or get a helping hand to check,then get a pillion on and check again,if you set the chain as per the book,with 2 people on it will be like a banjo string.
