Hi,I'm new to both the Tiger and the forum so forgive me if this is a subject that has already been asked!

I got my new Tiger on Saturday.Weather was rough,rain/hail/strong winds etc..... Stock screen didn't seem to offer any protection.

Hence;has anyone tried the OE Triumph Touring Screen?

Hello Charlie,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your choice of motorcycle! Another screen question eh? Well it all seems very subjective and varies with people of different shapes and sizes so I can only really give you the opinion of a large framed bloke who is a smidgen under 6 foot tall.

Assuming that the stock screen offers 10% protection and the "perfect" screen offered 100% protection then I would rate the Triumph touring screen at just 30%.

Just a bit further down the forum you will see the MRA Variotouring Screen thread - I have recently bought one of these and I am very pleased with it. I would rate it at 70% and that's fine, I'm not looking for car windscreen type performance, just something to stop the "buffetting" and reduce wind noise which it does :-D

There is an album button at the top of this page which will lead you to a screen folder. I also have some photo's on my own website of both screens.

Regards

Gadget

Welcome

I am 6' tall and found the OE Triumph Touring Screen to be just tall enough that it blocks airflow into my helmet defrost vent.
My fullface Shoei is designed to vent air to the inside of the lense, but it fogs unless I raise my head about an inch to get my chin into the airflow.
For this reason, and because of the "buffetting" above 80mph, I prefer the stock height over the taller.

I'm finding extreme buffeting and a rediculous amount of wind noise!
Accepting that the past weekend was horrible i.e Almost gale like winds etc.... I'm just curious as to the most popular touring screen. I'm not looking for "car like" comfort but, what I experienced on my first two days was not enjoyable.

I suppose I should have mentioned earlier, I'm 5 11" with a 31" inside leg.

There are as many opinions about screens on Tigers as there are people who ride them. You will have to do what the rest of us did and experiment for a while until you find one you like. I wound up cutting down a stock screen after trying the touring one which I liked even less than the stock screen.

If you live near one of us that has a different screen configuration, borrowing it just for a test spin would be a good idea.

I've had four different screens on tango and without a doubt the standard and touring screens were the worst.

The first Cee Bailleys screen totaly eliminated the severe head buffeting, the second C/B is also good in that respect and reduces the wind blast on my chest.

Soon to fit screen #5 the MRA vario.

If you want to know more about either the MRA or C/B screens just do a search and it's all there, pages and pages of it

Fred,

Sorry we didn't get more time to chat last weekend, but I meant to get a little deeper into why you cut down your stock screen. For me, at 6'4", the stock screen offers little to no protection. The wind at 70-80 mph hits me in the upper chest, neck and face, as though I were riding my TBird, except that I'm sitting a lot taller in the Tiger. I would think I'd need a taller screen. What prompted you to cut yours shorter, and what were the results? Are you happy with it now?

I'm a little intriqued about the MRA Vario Touring Screen, but just don't know if it'll be right for me. I look forward to Tango's review when he gets his. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars not knowing if it will make me happy.
