Appeal to a Good U.K. Samaritan

I want to purchase a Bagster tank cover ('tank bra' to us N. American blokes ) for my 2005 Tiger 955i in British Racing Green.

I have shopped around and found that the most cost effective and efficient way for me to purchase/ receive the cover is directly from the UK distributor/ manufacturer. There are no Bagster distributors here in Canada.

The problem is that I want to pay for the purchase using PayPal and not have to give out a credit card number over the phone (required by Bagster sales)... long distance $$ to England from Canada.

If I paid one of you good British gents the money via PayPal, could you order the cover for me and send it to me?

I know its a lot to ask, but I'm sure there's somebody willing to help? I would be forever in your debt.

I suspect the cover can be folded and stuffed into a good quality padded envelope or small box without too much trouble and cost.

The cover is currently in stock at Trophy UK Ltd. Here's the e-mail I received from Bagster:

*************************************************

Thank you for your enquiry,

Stock code 1392I - tank cover in Firgreen/grey £93, in stock at time of enquiry

Plus £7 post and packing to most uk mainland addresses

If you wish to order please telephone 01745 823333

Best regards

Nina

Thumbs up Tank cover purchase

Hi Kurgan,

I could do this for you.....after all, if the money doesn't come through, I can always get a very large guy on a Harley to pay you a visit!! lol

The only issue may be the cost of the postage to Hamilton. The Baglux covers are fairly thick and not easily folded into small spaces...I have one on my 2005 Tiger. They're fiddly to get on, but once stretched and settled, they're really good at keeping the tank safe and sound and the Baglux tank bag clips on and off really easily. Fit them when it's nice and warm and you should have no problem.

I'm not sure how much the covers weigh, but I would imagine that we'd be talking about £20/$40 to post it to to you. I would think that it would either be best in a box of some kind or possibly in a strong plastic bag of some sort...there's not much to break in the cover, so it would probably be safe enough like that.

Let me know if you want to go ahead and I'll try to find out the weight and calculate the postage.

Ride safe!

Ken...

A BIG THANK YOU TO GLEN-TIGER!!

Thanks to Ken, I am now the proud owner of a brand new Bagster tank cover. Not only did Ken go to the trouble of ordering the cover from England, but he also made sure it was extremely WELL packaged, and he shipped the cover using the most reasonable and efficient method. In all, It took only 1 week in the mail. In comparison, it usually takes 3 weeks from the USA!

I simply cannot thank Ken enough. Its nice to know there a decent people in this world full of crooks and cons.

Now, I have a problem... fitting the **** thing.

I have been able to fit most of the cover and it looks pretty good (and a decent colour match), but I have NO idea where the side straps clip on to. Does anybody know? On another forum, somebody mentioned they put the black plastic side covers OVER the Bagster cover, and therefore did not use the side straps. Should I do this and put screws through the cover? I really don't want to. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The side clips are a pain in the @ss
they will not grip the black side covers because the side covers are to thick

I took a file to the back side of the covers and reduced the lip just where the clips seat. this has solved the problem.

Not on the bike today but I can take a photo tonight if you need one

Success!

Well, at least in terms of fitment. The colour doesn't really match. Its definitely the "right" colour code according to the manufacturer. Oh well, I suppose you can't expect perfection. It will do its job of protecting the paint from the elements and regular use.

Did they make a Tiger in another shade of green, with the exception of Roulette Green?
