Tiger Question

Hi,

Another newbie question.

I have bought some LED's to replace the dash lamps on my 955i, but can't see how to access the bulbs to change them. I've removed the two screws on the dash panel but nothing moves.

Can someone give me a step by step guide on how to change them?

Thanks in advance

Ah, when I was a newbie (just three months ago), I thought those two screws would do the trick too. However, the handbook instruction to "remove the cockpit" really means "remove the cockpit fairing".

Hi, I did mine about a month ago and the whole front fairing has to come off. You might need torx as well as allen keys as the screws are a mixture, at least mine were.

Going from memory the job goes like this.

Start by removing the 2 black plastic pieces between the fairing and tank. (they hold the front indicators)
then remove the screen (4 x plastic screws)
then remove all the screws holding the fairing, careful not to loose any of the rubber bushings. (4, I think 2 in front and 2 more at the sides)
the fairing should now be removable.
if your just doing the dash bulbs then you now have full access to the bulb holders.
Remember the LED's only work 1 way so test after putting them in.
If it doesn't lite up then take it out and turn it 180 degrees then put it back in.

Make sure everything is working fine before you start reassembly.
If your doing the clocks as well then you will probably have to remove the head lights to get in to all the clocks, I know I did.
Just take your time and you'll get there, it took me about an hour to do the job.
Hope this helps and I hope I haven't forgotten anything important.
It's well worth doing, I noticed a big difference.

Question Led's ??

This sounds interesting!

What type of bulbs are fitted originally?

If not LED's, What type of LED do I need to buy (I haven't a clue about these!), and do they fit directly into the bulb holders? The original bulbs wash out easily in the sun (granted, there's not too much of that here in Portland), and I'm tired of cancelling my indicators 3 miles after my turn.

Thanks for any info!!

Exclamation Bulb's to LED's

Hi, the leds plug in to the bulb holders providing that you buy the correct size. The Tiger dash uses 286's I think and the clock's use 501's so you will need 2 green 2 orange 1 blue 1 red for the dash.
There is more info on this forum somewhere (do a search for it) as I'm not 100% sure of the sizes and I don't want you to buy the wrong sizes. On this side of the Atlantic we buy from http://www.ultraleds.co.uk

I think KuzzinKenny started this bulb changing thingy so do a search for his posts and you will get more info.

Hope this helps.
