Inverter

Has anyone ever used a power inverter plugged into the accessory socket?
Could I use one to charge a phone or camera?I have a problem,in that I can't get a car charger for either my phone or camera. The thinking is,if viable,to use an inverter and mains voltage chargers.Thing is I have no idea how much doing that will take out of my battery.Anybody got any ideas?

I think a small plug in inverter would not cause any problems if used for charging a phone or a camera. If you tried to run a microwave you may have some issues.

I was wondering about that also. Using one to charge a air mattress pump while traveling ?
