Weight limit on baggage/panniers?

Just bought the keyless Givi silver lid panniers for my 2003 Tiger 955. I have bought the tubular fitting kit PL725 to fit the boxes on to the bike with. People in the shop told me each box can only hold 5 kg´s due to the limits of bike construction and the fitting kit itself. Any experiences with this? Doesn´t sound much considering I wanna go on longer travels in Europe. Have seen images on the of people packing all kinds of heavy baggage stuff on their Tigers, though. Whaddayasay folks?

I think the 5Kg is just to cover themselves. Certainly the standard Tiger frames would take loads more than that. I probably have around 30Kg distributed between panniers and topbox when touring and never had a problem.

I got my Tiger 04 model in April and i'm going to be touring a little around the UK this summer...the Orkneys being the main event! can't wait :-)

We'll be travelling two up so will have to be imaginative on the packing front what with tent, sleeping bag etc...it's gonna way quite a bit plus i'm considering getting a tank bag for even more room!

I'm sure the Tiger can take it!
