Talking Spot lights fitted to Touratech Crash bars

Hi all

Some time back I fitted some spot lights to my crash bars.

I am well pleased with the result considering what the project cost.

I have added the details to my blog site. So clicky here http://silver-stripes.blogspot.com to see this and my other modifications to my 05 Tiger.

Silverstripes,

Those spotties look very nice, do you have a link to the supplier?

Andy.

No link as I purchased them localy. They were fog lights and I removed the metal mask from the inside ( 2 screws) which provides the cut off beam you get with fog light. Thus they are now spot lights.

I do belive the make was "Ring" and they are 55 w. Bye the way I have no links with this company before anyone think's that I am advertising.

Silverstripes,

I like the look, I found that after I fitted mine, you find that you suddenly become seen more my the tin box fraternity.

For anyone else interested in a cheap set of lights try Halfords cruiser lights. Mine are about half the size of a credit card and cost 20 quid. Make yourself a simple set of brackets and job done. Certainly cheaper than PAA or Touratech.

Silverstripes,

Nice mods, mate.

How much light do the spotties put out on the road, or is it more for visibility (to be seen) rather than illumination ?

Great lifesaver, by the way !

Regards,
Graeme.

Its not just about being seen as I run them with main beam. That way there is no seperate switching to worry about. Of course they also work with the Pass flash lever. Dont forget to use a relay or else you will burn out your switches. What I did was run to the battery direct via a fuse and then pick up the switched feed for energising the relay from the main beam feed.

They provide a lot more light. Where I live we get a lot of deer. I hit one in the car and the lights pick up the side of the road perfectly and illuminate into the distance. They are for the money very very good and who wants to pay Touratech prices for the same light with a posh sticker on it.

By the way I also have installed a deer whistle.

Highly recommended modification. In fact I am thinking about mounting some LED running lights as well.

Adrian
