Any advice welcomed for sprocket change on '06 955 Tiger to give more relaxed cruising revs, without sacrificing too much pull low down. Thanks.

The most popular mod is to up the gearbox sprocket to 19 teeth. I've done this on both my 885 and 955 Tigers.This drops the revs at motorway speeds by about 500 revs

Yup, up the front sprocket to a 19 tooth - easy mod to do and lowers the revs at cruising speed but has virtually no difference to acceleration lower down the rev range. Along with stiffer front springs it's one of the best mods that I've done to my '05.

The first mod I made to my '05 955 was to install a 19 tooth gearbox sprocket. No change in the acceleration and reduced cruising RPM much better. Took about one hour to make the change. It helps that I have the optional center stand.

+1 on that. The engine is tractable enough to pull that even off road.

Seems i went the other way round than most and fitted a 42 rear, Same results though, 80 mph and just over 5000 rpm and still and quick getaway

Thing is Clive. With replacing the front, you don't have to alter the length of your chain. Indeed, I've fitted a 17, 18 and 19 all with the same chain. There's enough adjustment in the eccentrics to cope.
Also, a bigger sprocket gives the chain an easier time because it doesn't have to "bend" so much to go round the sprocket.
Yet another plus is that the bigger sprocket helps to keep the chain away from the plastic guides on the swing arm.

Guys, is this mod the same (relevant) on the 1050? I like the bottom end pull, but would like to drop my highway rpm some.

Hear what your saying and understand why you would change the front if thats all you were doing, I was at the time though replacing both sprockets and the chain as the old front sprocket was fairly well hooked and the chain had seen better days !!!

I think, but not sure, that the 1050 tiger starts off with a 19T. Don't know if a 20T is available.
