I'm picking up my new used 2003 Tiger on Saturday. There are a lot of things I like about the bike, but I'm thinking that for controllability, I'd like to drop the bike a tiny bit. Also I'm used to my Speed Triple so I'm more used to sport tuned suspension. I want softer than my Speedy (2006) but not too much so. So I've been looking for stuff and here is what i've found. If I'm missing other reasonable options please tell me. (ripping up the entire front and replacing it with a KTM goes a little too far)

Front:

- 15w Fork Oil - Stiffen the Front
- Progressive springs - prevent bottoming, prevent nose diving during hard braking
- Race Tech Cartridge Emulators - Not quite sure what these do
- Raise fork in the triple tree ~19mm: Lower Seat Height, faster steering

Rear:

- Rotate rear axle 180 degrees - lower seat height
- Fork oil - Does it make sense to harden the rear, or is most of the softness in the front?

Anything I'm missing?

I thought the rear shock was a bit on the soft side as well as being a bit harsh. Whether it was wise or not I don't know but I replaced mine with a Wilbers which was set up to my weight and riding. I consider it a pretty good improvement.
Unfortunately, Wilbers future in the US is a little unclear at the moment due to some issues between the manufacturer and the US distributor so you would have to source out a different brand of shock if you decided to go this way.

On my 02, I went for a Hagon Rear Shock 1" lower and Hagon progressive springs on the front which come complete with the correct fork oil. I then dropped the front forks through the clamps(triple trees) to keep the riding angle the same. Total cost about £250 ($500ish)

Although only an inch less than standard, this represents about 10% less height. Also the Hagon is tons better than the stadard suspension units, especially the progressive springs.

Before I tried this, I turned the adjuster, but everything kept decking out especially two up.
