I've just fitted R&G Crash Protectors to my 06 Tiger and am surprised to find that one sticks out further than the other, by about 3cm or so. Now I've noticed it, it looks rather silly not being symmetrical. Has anyone else noticed this - or is it me?
I did e-mail the manufacturer and they tell me it is supposed to be like that, although I can't imagine why. The mounting is slightly different on each side which does account for the different distances but I don't see why they don't supply a long one and a short one to get round this!

Any thoughts??

there was a long thread about this when i fitted mine with pictures a while ago,and when i went to the bike show at the NEC last year i asked the MD of R&G why this was the case with these bungs.

his answer was that they didnt do bungs for the tiger to start with but a customer found that a pair from another triumph fitted,so they started marketing them for the tiger, they are in the process of making some new ones just for the tiger but wont be out for quite a while.
and they wont do a longer stem ast it will loose its strength.

the good news is if your bike falls over on the short side it still protects the tank and all the other bits,i know from doing it twice!!! :-D

Marauder2, how far does the bung protrude on the short side, ? I ask this because I had a custom set of bungs made up to my specifications and had to make some assumptions! Both sides on my bike protrude equally - in other words the stems are unequal lengths.

Having taken my bike off road (rocky beach) a couple of times I had started to think of putting Touratech bars on instead but I love the look of the bungs and they were never intended to protect the bike from seriuous off-road upsets. They are, hopefully, good enough to prevent damage from stationary drops as you have found out!
