I just installed the SW-Motech Center Stand. It's very good quality, is easy to install (remove five bolts, attach hangers, replace the five bolts, install spring). It was $170 from twisted throttle versus $228 for the Tiger stand from bikebandit. It seems to work well. Now I can lube my chain!

Glad that someone posted their experience with the AM center stand. If I may ask you, do you have pictures of them. From what I gathered SW-Motech ones are feeble compared to Triumph's own. But from my perspective, I am sure the strength of the stand should be sufficient enough. I liked the design where the stand makes the "stop" when in upright position...compared to the factory one, where it stops by the use of a rounded bolt...I don't think Triumph's is a better design.

If you could share whether my observation is correct then it will be helpful for me as well as others :-)

Just curious about the "stop" in upright position; whether the stop feels positive and the "upright" position is comfortable to leave the bike for hours without having to fear that the bike will roll itself off of the stand.

Actually, I bought the SW-Motech stand because it looked like a better design. The pivot on the stock stand just didn't look like it would last. The SW-Motech stand doesn't seem feeble at all. I took some pictures. If I can figure out how to post them to photo albums I'll do so.

The stand didn't seem quite positive enough for my taste when the bike was upright. I contacted SW-Motech. They said that after a few uses the powder coat on the stops would disappear then it would be more stable. I didn't want to wait or take the chance so I scraped away the paint off the stop and the stand where it contacts the stop. It made a big difference. The stand seems nicely stable when upright. I'm pleased with it.

Pictures of the sw-motech stand:

sw motech stand - right side

sw motech stand - pivot

sw motech stand - up

Despite some wear on my footpeg feelers and using the whole tread surface on my rear tire the stand has not touched down.

I have the Triumph OEM center stand. I can't compare to the SW Motech, but I can say that the OEM stand is excellent. It's the only center stand I"ve ever used which is easier to get the bike up on than the BMW series of center stands.

Thanks a lot for the pictures. It surely looks good/sturdy than I thought.
Lets see whether I should buy the stand first or the MRA Vario screen... :-)
thanks again.

I have fitted the MOTECH center-stand on my Silver Tiger. The springs, yes there are two of them, one inside the other, it looked to be quite a mission to get those puppies on, so after thinking about it over night, I placed a piece of pipe over the receiver lug , threaded the hook of the springs onto the pipe, and tapped them along until they were aligned with the lug, then I removed the pipe and Presto! Springs on. I too thought the rest position was a little upright so I used my trusty Flat Bastard ( thats what is written on it ) file and relieved it a little. The stand looks to be very robust and I am happy with it. Cost me $170 (us) + shipping from Twisted Throttle.
