I have a 2001 Tiger and am planning to get a chain oiler that is electronically controlled (vs using the vacuum from the engine intake. I have looked at the options and the Lubetronics and CLS seem to get good reviews. I have also considered the Hawke, but I am forgetful and it relies on the rider to push a switch to oil the chain.

Anyone on the list have experience with these oilers? What about installation probs, etc?

thanks, bluzdoc

I have installed Lubetronic last Monday. No problems with installation, got good advice where to take live wire from - fuse box.

Already did around 500 km with it now and it seems to be working fine, just only putting too much oil, as it is very warm lately. I have ordered control unit as it seems necessary to control the oil flow.

:-D
one more thing to mention, on full tank I could do around 300~320 km, with the oiler I did 350km today and I was riding very aggressively (mostly around 120 ~ 140km/h = 75 ~ 88mph) hard braking, acceleration...
surprising

I am waiting to hear from Cycle Gear, the USA importer, about special ordering the Lubetronic. Not easy to find the Lubetronic here in the states, but it may be less than the CLS 200u, which is in stock at Twisted Throttle for $200.00

What did you pay for yours?

My tip, for everyone reading this thread, is to buy cheap 2stoke oil to use in the oiler. Much cheaper than the Scottoiler stuff and, I guess, any other supplied by the oiler manufacturers.

I have used a Lubetronic and now run it on EP80 diff oil. Lubetronic with the control unit worked out dearer than a scottoiler touring 'though.

EP80 wouldn't flow through a Scottoiler. Their oil is quite thin. Which is why I chose 2T oil.

I just got prices on the Lubetronic here in the states. $119 for the Lubetronic and $59 for the controller. They have to special order from across the ocean...

The CLS 200u is $199, and available in stock at Twisted Throttle. Seems like a toss-up in terms of cost.

Anyone use the CLS Chain Oiler?
