I am new to the Tiger and Triumph world, but have been riding in Canada for a number of years. As such, I would like to install some heated grips and wire-in a heated vest and possibly pants, as I'm an early morning rider and even in the summer, can still be a bit nippy in the mountains.

Does anyone know what is the max. loading I can put on the electrical system for external gear for my 2005 TIGER? I've burned a stator out in my younger years which created a less than ideal situation for where I was at the time.

The power outlet (accessory circuit) is fused at 10 AMPS. That is also the circuit that runs the factory heated grips. I think the only other things on that circuit is the clock and the backup power for the trip mileage

If you are thinking of how many Watts are you able to drain to power up all that stuff, it is 12V*10A=120W
The heated grips drain 20W (I'm not sure)...the rest are for your own use

Where are you located? Sounds like Alberta! I mlive in Cochrane and ride a 06 Silver Tiger.

First, thanks for advice, and yes, I was looking for the available amperage.

Calgary is home, and I would have bought an '06 Tiger except mine HAD to be orange, so I had one shipped from Montreal last spring (one of the last new Orange ones left!!)

Also,

Most of the heated gear that I've looked at that interlocks together comes with it's own plug. According to the owners manual the aux. plug can take a max of 10a load. The actual draw of Amperage is going to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. I've seen heated vests that take up to 7 amps to run. A direct lead to the battery will usually do the trick and avoid damaging your factory wiring too. If you only plan on using a heated jacket and not full gear then the factory plug should be fine. If you do socks, pants, shirt, and gloves then add in a new plug.
