Airbox mod

While the Tiger is down for it's winter spruce up,got round to taking a photo of the airbox mod i've run for some years,it's a pain dremmeling the blanking plate, and even worse cleaning the mess out,but in conjunction with a K+N and the Offroad tune, pulls a 19t sprocket all the way to the redline even in top gear.

Excuse the mess,it hasn't been cleaned yet.

Hi Winger,
What exactly am I looking for in the photo ? All I recognise is the air filter box minus a filter. Which bit have you dremmeled ?

Red face

Stock

And never be tempted to undo the two halfs of the airbox, they ping the screw threads,so half way out they stick in the brass furrels in the other half, and won't move either backwards or forwards, and then your stuffed, how do i know.

AHA, I can see how it " breathes more easily ".
Nice job, thanks for the comparison photo. I've only peeked inside mine once when trying to remove the airbox to get underneath.

Cheers JJ

I'd say both,it's what they have to do to get them through emissions/TUV etc/,the only thing i was ever concerned about was fuelling and how the ECU would handle it,i'd spoken to various people who reckoned it would be OK,i'm a non beleaver!!!!!,a nigh on flat out run for the best part of a 100 miles with rev counter on the redline pulling a 19t sprocket convinced me it was alright,e'r thats with 2 people fully kitted, tank bag and topbox and a bag onto of that!!

I'm running a remus powercone (got the Tiger with the TOR can) with the TOR tune, pipercross air filter, opened up airbox and snorkel removed and a FRK for the low speed snatch. Tiger is running perfectly.
