Hand Guards
Anyone using Barkbusters or an alternative hand guard?

Yep!
Fitted a set of R1150GS handgaurds with Touratech spoilers. Not only have they proved more crash-worthy but they also provide a pocket of still air which means that I can use summer gloves all year round (with heated grips).
I've dropped my Tiger several times off road at low speed plus only twice on a hard surfaces at standstill. My first hard surface fall-over was when the bike was 2 days old and it broke the OE hand guard. Every time it hits the deck with the R1150GS set up, there has been no damage other than some easily buffed scratches. In fact it went over on it's ear today twice on a rocky trail and I didn't bother to look at the guards afterwards because I know it's a pretty rugged set up.
Here is a pic.

I`ve fitted some BM ones, bought em off Silverstripes before he went over to the dark side then added the Touratech deflecters. No advantage over stock realy, just look that bit different.

Hey Jon,
Any modifications needed to fit the 1150 guards?

Just a small bit of messing around with the fixings for the bar end weights (which are retained) but nothing you can't fathom out. The plastic guards need a bit of flexing to get them into place initially, just to ensure the lever action is not affected.

The advantage over stock becomes apparent when hitting the deck!

Yeah done that, though at a standstill bent the bar end a bit, but it tightened up again ok.

Triumph money hungry
So how is it "uber-expensive" BMW can sell their guards for $110 and Triumphs cost $200, even though they should have been stock in the first place? -not really expecting an answer, I'll just be buying the BMW parts and saving my money.

I picked up the Barkbusters GBH20 hand guards today and they fit well. I found that, with most things, it helps to leave all hardware loose until it is all started. So far so good.
The OEM guards sure do provide a lot of wind deflection and the Barkbusters provide a little less; however, the aluminum backbone of the Barkbusters do provide a considerable amount more protection from impact.
