Automatic blinker shut off
Hi All
As a former BMW bike rider I am used to it that blinker shuts off after the corner. Now I have a Tiger 1050 ABS which does not have this feature.
Is there any means to get one? I don't like riding kilometers with the blinker on...

hi dude
i know what you mean but surley the green light flashing away helps i tend to keep my thumb over the button after i turn and just give it a tap after i have completed the turn , when i first started riding i found talking to myself helped to remember like " right now indicate turn switch indicator of " you might feel a prat but after a while it becomes second nature hope this helps . but even the best of us forget went for a ride with a few lads from the club and fast ed was leading us he had his right indicator on for about 2 miles before he realised . we gave him a bit of stick because he normaly does not indicate lol and hes been riding for a good 40 years

available from www.triumph-online.co.uk costs £70
IMHO much cheaper to remember to cancel it. Works using timer
to cancel and can be user set, for time and to work with/as Hazzard lights.

Hi
Thanks for advice. I try to learn to remember shut off the signals after the turn/corner. The signalMinder is far too expensive solution for this issue. I wonder why Triumph has not the same featrure as BMW and even HD is having?

I don't know about BMW's implementation, but HD gets an input signal from the speedo and shuts off turn signals based on distance traveled and speed; it's far from perfect, as the shutoff is almost always too soon and not programable or user-adjustable. A replacement turn signal module for a late model HD is about $150, and it's a very troublesome, commonly-replaced part. HD sequences part numbers with a letter to indicate revisions, I believe the turn signal modules are up around H or J by now.

Image concious?
Perhaps Triumph expects its riders to be better than the average Harley or BMW rider? Triumph riders are capable of concentrating on their riding, and don't waste time worrying about how they look, unlike some other brands !
(Don't get upset, I'm only joshing)

They are starting with it - the new Thunderbird 2010 has them as standard.
So I think it'll slowly become a stock item on most/all new Triumphs models in the future.
Remember the days when the first Airbags were an accessory in Mercedies cars ONLY and ONLY for the driver - not for the passenger!
These days there's more Airbags than Horse Power in the new Fiat 300!
Times change...

Yamaha put self-cancelling indicators on the RD250LC in, when was it, 1982?
IIRC, they also worked on a distance marker measured from the speedo.
Jon
PS an even cheaper option is to install an audible buzzer to fluctuate on/off with the indicators which not only reminds the rider but also annoys other road users. I know this because my mate fitted one to his Tiger and you could hear it 3 bikes behind him at junctions!

Had them on a XS750 in 1977 FFS! Also on an XJ650 in 1983 but they were gone on my 1984 XJ900S???? They were brilliant when you got your brain programmed to the distance/time thing. It was 400m or 10 seconds which ever was the longer.
I suspect that Nippon Denso had it all patented and some/most manufacturers were too tight to fit them.

My RD400 had them in 1976! As I recall, they worked a treat and were still OK when I sold it in 1979. Before I got my Tiger, I had a Superglide Sport for 6 years and the self cancelling winkers were both effective and reliable. I find the manual winkers a step backwards and a PITA. It's one more thing to have to think about when out riding. The self cancelling hardware is low tech, so presumably low rent, (don't bet on it) so why can't we have them? Imagine a car with manual cancelling winkers only, I bet they wouldn't sell many!
