Power FRK
If you have a Tiger 1050, and are tired of the off/on throttle response, the Power FRK resolved all my throttle response problems. Tiger is now s m o o t h! The company that makes the FRK has been making them for BMW's for years. They said prior to the Euro 3 emission regs, most of the FRK's were sold to people wanting more horsepower, but now almost 60% are sold to people wanting to smooth out the throttle transitions from off to on.
The FRK is a sealed item about 1.5" X 1.5" X 1.0". It is a plug and play install which one has to remove the fuel tank to install. It plugs into one of the plugs on the top of the airbox. The manufacturer guarantees this item 100% as well as your satisfaction with the item. If you do not like the results, you can return the item for a refund. They say they have only had two returned from BMW riders, and none from Triumph riders.
They do recommend one use premium fuel after installing the FRK unit because both fuel mapping and timing is altered by this unit.
I transitioned the throttle from Off to On smoothly at speeds of 30 mph, 50 mph, and 70 mph. I had not been able to do this before, and I had tried most of the band-aid fixes listed on another forum. I am now able to ride in tight circles on gravel surfaces without slipping the clutch and riding the rear brake--I wouldn't even try this before. I live on a gravel road and have a 250 yard drive-way, and the only way I could turn a 90 degree turn from my drive-way to the road was with the clutch disengaged. Now, I can ride it just like I ride my bonnie--from a throttle stand-point, that is.
Most of the HP increase from this unit is in the mid-range according to the manufacturer, but they do claim a small increase in HP at WOT.
Cost: A lot--around $300 USA. They are offering a 10% discount to Triumph riders right now, but as always, I bought mine before the discount was offered--and I am still happy!.
I have no association with the vendor of this item. I am just a happy customer, and I knew the 1050 engine could be a smooth, powerful engine rather than a herky, jerky powerful engine with dangerous transitions of power.
