After putting up with gobs of chain oil up the side of my white Tiger 1050 and expensive textile jacket, it
finally dawned on me that maybe a longer and wider chain guard would save a LOT of cleaning. A quick search turned up
http://www.patwalshdesigns.com/triumph.html and for eighty bucks I received, in three days (!), a very well made, aluminum chain guard. At first it seemed like removing and installing the chain guard without removing the tire first was impossible, but there IS an angle that will allow this to happen. The installation only took a few minutes. After the next time I rode the bike (to West Virginia--incredible), while it was still hot, I really lubricated up the chain. Since then…clean bike, clean jacket.
A very happy ending.
Now if I could only find the right button head socket bolts to replace the hardware on my heel guards; the bolts that chew up the heels on my boots..!
