Daytona bits into Tiger??
Was just wondering how much work is involved in getting the BHP of the 955i Tiger up to the Daytona 955i power??
Does anyone know what sort of internals need to be changed in the engine and more to the point has anyone done it?
Would the extra 20 BHP or so be a worthwhile improvement (silly question I know as power is everything really) or would it just push the Tiger a bit past its handling limits??

The Daytona has a completely different cylinder head along with different cam profiles. Probably bigger injector bodies..............putting a complete engine in involves different frame mounting points as well.....................you get the picture? More trouble that it's worth.

Damn I was hoping it was going to a lot easier than that!!!
Oh well I suppose a turbo will help move things along a bit although no way the other half will go for that! I could of got away with cams, etc

A lot of people think it should be that easy. I have seen such a conversion on the road. I suppose it depends how determined you are AND how much money you've got to throw at it.

You can drop in the Daytona cams mate and retune. You won't notice a big difference in power. Some guys say you have to uprate to heavier duty valve springs to handle the added power. I doubt the power difference would warrant that expense.
The 955i Tiger motor with TOR can and latest off-road tune already adds about 10-15 hp over the stock 104 hp. IMHO, that is more than enough for the cat's intended purpose, and puts the power where you want it -- low and mid range with plenty of top end for the real world.

My old grandad used to say, if you want a faster bike, buy a faster bike.
No sense in turning a well balanced, reliable engine in to a complete basket case that may or may not be as reliable as what you have.
955i Tigers already have 104 hp 83.6 KW @ 9500 rpm, Daytonas on the other hand have 149 hp 108.6 kW @ 10700 rpm, and yes, it is a 30% increase, but really how useable will it be in the real world, apart from bench racing and comparing pickle sizes?
You can get the same increase in performance by losing a few pounds.....

Hmmm not so sure i agree with your grandad,i've had my Tiger 8 years,it's better than ever, but it's taken 3 sets of different wheels,2 lots of suspension, and 2 lots of brakes,a different engine map, exhaust, airbox mod and a change of gearing to get it to were i want, and i'd certainly take another 30hp(and use it) if i could get it.

Miker I had a faster bike before, hayabusa 175bhp non restricted but had to buy the Tiger cos I moved to France and had to comply with their poxy 105bhp maximum bhp for motorcycles so I wanted to do something low-key to get more ponies and screw the powers that be over a bit!!! I miss the Busa sooooooo much and miss that acceleration like nothing on earth, there is no substitute for raw power.
Winger I agree a bit of modding is needed really and give me 30bhp extra any day of the week!
