Shifter could be shorter/Brake could extend farther

Does anyone feel like the shifter could be shorter? I would also like my brake to extend out more so that I don't have to point my toe in to brake.

Has anyone addressed this issue and if so I would love to see pics.

Thanks

2005 Tiger

Aluminum shifters wear out if they're allowed to get loose. Mine was not able to be tightened when I got it. I found a Honda shifter in a wrecking yard that I took home, sawed off, and rewelded to the perfect length for me. It's steel so it will last longer and can be tightened tighter than the aluminum original. As for the rear brake, it works just fine for me.

I extended my brake lever by bolting a piece of 3mmx20mm alloy bar onto the top. The lever is just long enough on top to drill two 4.5mm holes and to get the M4 nyloc nuts into the groove on the underside. Countersink the holes in the alloy extension piece, round off the outer end and you're good to go. Obviously, you can make it as long as you like.

As for the gear lever. Some levers from MX bikes fit quite well but you'll have to hunt for the length you want. We all have different size feet.
