Cool Lowering tiger suspension

For my 1996 Tiger I know how to lower the rear suspension by rotating the eccentric, but my question is how the ride is affected when doing this? Has anyone done it? if so did it reduce the handling at all? Did you leave it that way or put it back to original after trying it?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have a 2007 Tiger with a 1" lowering kit and lower seat. I am 6'4" and absolutely love the biked lowered. The bike digs deep into curves and is more fun to ride than standard settings. I feel more in control with the lowering kit.

It doesn't affect the ride but you need to raise the fork tubes in the yokes a similar amount to keep the original geometry, and almost certainly shorten the stands as well.

I did it to my 04 Girlie and it really makes it less forbidding on off-cambers and the like.

Thumbs up lowering questions

I realized that if I did this it would mean cutting both stands. It's easy enough to shorten them but tough to add back if I don't like it. That's why I was soliciting feedback from those who had gone this route. Keep it coming!

I had mine lowered for a while. You can get by without cutting down the centerstand but will need to get a cut down sidestand. I have a shortened sidestand kicking around in the garage somewhere. Make me an offer and it's yours.

I offer $25 (includes cheapest shipping). Can you find it?
Thanks.

i lowered my '04 after about a year, once i ponied up for the corbin saddle. i'm 6'0" and i couldn't touch the ground with the corbin without lowering it. since then its great. i didn't shortenthe center stand, and i can get it up by myself. shortening the side stand is a must. i suggest going a little farther than you think you need. i took mine down a inch i believe, and i should have gone farther.

i slide my forks up in the clamps about 1 1/4".

Talking re: lowering ideas

My Tiger also has the Corbin seat and I agree that contributes to the problem. The original seat was quite a bit narrower towards the front.

Thanks for the advice.

agreed, the seat is awfullly wide. I've heard that corbin will custom shape it for you if you send it back, for a price. they will also shave the back down for you if you run a stock triumph top box.

Has anyone lowered a 1050 Tiger at both ends? I really like this machine and am considering buying one when the Sprint gets threadbare, but I'm not fond of the stilt-like suspension. I'm 6'3" so reach isn't a problem, but I think since the dirt-bike posings have been all buy eliminated from the Tiger, lowering couldn't hurt and might possibly make it a better sporty tourer.
