Tiger - What do you use yours for?

Curious from York again.

Been taking advantage of the rare good weather these past evenings and have been from being all Panniered up and cruising to totally stripped off and blasting. Having ridden for the past 3 evenings, i am only starting to appreciate the talent of this bike. When 2 up and loaded, solid comfortable secure ride, when on my own it is a bloody scream and totally holds it's own against others. Twisties - FANTASTIC

The acceleration of this bike belies it's appearence, and i love leaving a 30mph zone into a 60 and just leaving everything for dead. (not sure what the 60 means!!!)

Is my useage typical? Do others really blast their cat beyond legal limits in the country twisties. Do others meander around just exploring in no rush. Do others still get a lift of the heart when they look at their Cat.

I ride with the owners/operators of a Motorcycle Training School. They have a Honda Blackbird and a Suzuki 1200 bandit. Whilst they kill me on the straight, they have total respect for this bike in every other department. (Had a go on the Blackbird, great acceleration, great bike - wasn't disappointed to get back onto the Tiger though)

I only bought the bike when i passed my test 1 year ago as it is supposed to be reliable and a safe riding position which would suit my level of experience. I didn't really like the appearence, and thought once i cut my teeth i will soon be onto an ZX10R.

However, i think i am starting to get it. I am really falling for this machine, and can see why others live for theirs. Love the looks now, and still amazed at the attention it draws in a Car Park.

What do you do with yours???? Would be interested to know if i am typical, or totally unique!!

You need to lead them onto proper tiger roads. there are loads of them around York.

put a blackbird and bandit on a rough single track and ride away

Yes you are total unique just the same as the rest of us

Anything and everything.

To me she's a wife, a mother, and a naughty bit on the side.

She'll ferry me back and forth to work in all weathers, we'll endure hundreds of miles of wind and rain together and enjoy hundreds more of sunshine.

When I fancy a bit on the side she'll hitch up her skirt and show me a good time.

So paraphrasing, yes the torque and the in gear acceleration is grin inducing, the handling belies the looks but its one of the few bikes yuo can really enjoy just by riding around on it.

Someone once described the Tiger as a long legged Daytona 955. I think that's fair.

Mine is used for daily commuting to work. The weekends are runs out and about.I also go camping, having just returned from 1600 miles in Scotland. The blend of performance and handling is spot on,whether solo, with a pillion,or loaded for a trip.Probably the best bike I have owned in 30 years of riding.

I use mine mainly for commuting and the weekend day trip, as that is all time will allow for. The wife and I also try to get away for a weekend per year, and then there is always the boy’s weekend.

Oh, and I just did a track day with her this past weekend, so to sum it all up

Everything, the bike does everything.

-Cheers

Commuting, weekend (haven't had a chance for a longer one yet) trips, business trips. Sometimes I just pop open a cold one, sit and look at it.

Daily runs to work, shopping etc.. Got caught in a couple of Florida summer afternoon downpours the last couple of weeks and the bike ran great.

And yes when out on the two lane roads on the weekend it's is required to twist that throttle just a bit more. Love the sound of the Triple when you run up the RPM's and the TOR growls.
What's even better is when riding with the RAT's and there is 3 or 4 other Tigers in the group.

Trying to plan a trip with my son but it's been so freaking hot and rainy so far this summer pretty much hate to ride after noon.

Just curious to know what you did to the Tiger to prepare it for track duty. I was thinking of tracking mine at least once to see what it can do.

How did it compare to the full-on supersports?

It will vary at diffferent tracks. = common preps are: tape over lights / remove mirrors / safety wire some bits like the oil drain plug / replace radiator coolant with plain water / etc.
