I was leaning toward BRG for my `05 Tiger when the dealer rolled an orange one out of the back and into the showroom. Man, the other bikes just kinda faded into the background. A bright colored Tiger is pretty easy to spot just because of the size of the bike.
On fire engines...I used to design them up here in Northern California. At one point, a 'study' was done because car drivers were plowing into the trucks, claiming that they didn't notice the fire engine. That most fire engines are eight feet wide, close to ten feet high, and twenty feet long with sirens wailing and running all the lights in the world speaks volumes about the driver's perceptive abilities.
Sooo, based on the study, a few cities had us paint their trucks, 'slime lime.' After that, drivers were still hitting them, turning in front of them, etc, because "They were not recognized as an emergency vehicle by the, um, `drivers' of the offending cars.
Have you thought about reflective tape for night riding? We used to run six inch stripes of the stuff (3M brand, lotsa colors, see the stuff a mile away) along the trucks.

Go with what makes you feel safe, then ride like you're invisible, except for the target painted on you.
